New Year’s Day lunch 2020

Moreton Bay bugs and Endeavour prawns

I’m in Brisbane and staying with my parents. For lunch Ms24 and her BF as well as Ms18 came over.

Yesterday I went to Morgan’s Seafood Market at Scarborough and bought some Moreton Bay bugs (Thenus orientalis) and blue Endeavour prawns (Metapenaeus endeavouri).

My plan for lunch was for a simple sandwich building exercise with a choice of Tip Top™ white sandwich bread or white hamburger rolls, real butter, homemade seafood sauce (fresh pouring cream, commercial tomato sauce, and Worcestershire sauce), cos lettuce, Roma tomatoes, and some pepper.

This was similar to last night’s New Year’s eve tea of crab and prawn sambos.

So many carbohydrates (carbs)

There was also Pavlova and the traditional Lum family punch.

Breaking down the Moreton Bay bugs

This is a gallery of photographs. I just love these invertebrates. The Moreton Bay bug rivals a Top End mud crab for flavour and texture. In my opinion the Moreton Bay bug is superior to lobster. Click on a photograph and scroll through the larger versions and admire the beauty of this invertebrate crustacean.

Table setting

The table was set for six and the aim was for everyone to construct their own sanga.

Pavlova to balance the sandwich

Mum loves making a pavlova and I love eating a pavlova.

Tomorrow I will eat what’s left for breakfast.

So much for my low carb way of life.
